6 Essential Items for a 3 Wedding Weekend

10/21/2015

I love photographing weddings. From the played off nervousness of the groom before the wedding to the drunken dancing by the end of the night, I honestly enjoy it all.  Majority of the time, I have one wedding a week. Occasionally I will end up with two weddings I get to work in one weekend. Then, once in a while, there is the great white wale… A Three wedding weekend!

I enjoy three wedding weekends because I get to do what I love!  I get to work with three awesome couples who all have unique weddings.  I get to capture their day for them from start to finish. But as you can imagine these weekends come with challenges of their own. The biggest of these challenges is that photographing a wedding is exhausting!

I’m sure all of my fellow photographers can relate to this sentiment. So after recently having two three wedding weekends in a row I’ve compiled a list that make up my three wedding weekend survival kit!  Take a look and let me know what you think. What’s in your wedding survival kit?

6. Vitamins (specifically Isotonix)
I can’t start a wedding day without my daily dose of OPC-3 and Multivitamin.  Isotonix is a fantastic product made by Market America, and I swear by this stuff!  It’s a powder that mixes with water to perfectly match the fluid pressure of your bodily fluids (like your blood and tears.) This means that you don’t have to wait for any capsules to dissolve in your stomach… instead your body puts these vitamins to use right away, and the benefits last all day! This helps me start the day off right!

5. Cliff Bars
During a wedding I never quite know what or when I will eat. There are many times I will forego eating a real lunch to get more photos, or simply because there isn’t time in the schedule for it.  In these cases Cliff Bars are a real life saver!  You can often find me scarfing one of these down in the car or a corner of the wedding venue.

4. Vitamin Water
Hydration is important on a wedding day (which I will touch on later) and this is part of how I keep that In check. I keep one of these in my bag because it is a nice treat (and break from just plain water) and a decent way to keep that hydration level up.

Awake Energy Shot
3. Awake
This energy shot (which is similar to a 5 hour energy) is a necessity when I get into my second or third wedding of the weekend.  The last thing a newly wed couple needs is a photographer passed out on the dance floor after the dollar dance! Awake gives me the perfect amount of energy to make it to the end of the night.
2. Water
Hydration, hydration, hydration!  I cant say it enough, water is so so important! It helps me focus, keeps me energized, and halts any oncoming headaches! I always keep a good amount of water in my bag or in the car.

And drumroll please…

When it comes down to it, I cant have a great successful wedding day without an awesome couple! My clients are what make my job so much fun! At the end of the day its all about the couple, and as long as I have them, and a job to do, nothing will stop me!
